Privacy Policy for macOS Safari

Last updated: 2 June 2026

This Privacy Policy applies to Link Grabber for macOS Safari, distributed through the Mac App Store (host app “Link Grabber” and the embedded Safari web extension). It describes only this Safari release.

Other Link Grabber versions (for example Google Chrome with optional paid features) and our website may collect different data. For those, see our general policy: https://link-grabber.com/privacy

1. Summary

Link Grabber is a productivity tool that helps you find, select, review, filter, and export links from web pages. It runs when you use it.

This Safari version is free. We do not require an account, and we do not collect payment details, email addresses, or phone numbers through the extension or the Mac host app.

We do not sell your personal data. We use limited product analytics (Google Analytics 4) to understand feature usage and improve stability. We do not use your data for cross-app advertising tracking.

2. What this app includes

  • Safari web extension — link extraction, popup, review page, link crawler, options, and related features in Safari.
  • Mac host app — short onboarding (extension status, how to enable the extension in Safari Settings, link to help). The host app does not process web page content for link extraction.

3. Information processed on your device

To provide features you request, Link Grabber may access:

  • Website content — links and related text on pages you choose to process (selection, full-page scan, hover copy, and similar actions).
  • Browsing activity (limited) — URLs and tab titles for tabs you include in a workflow (for example multi-tab collection or link crawler seeds). Processing is tied to actions you start.
  • Bookmarks — only when you choose an action that reads or writes bookmarks (where supported by Safari).

Most processing stays on your Mac. We do not continuously read your browsing history outside the pages or tabs involved in an action you start.

The extension stores on your device, using Safari extension storage:

  • your settings and preferences
  • working results (for example collected links) while you use the app
  • a random analytics client ID (UUID) for anonymous analytics

We do not store your full browsing history inside the extension.

4. Information sent off your device4.1 Google Analytics 4 (Google)

We send anonymous product analytics to Google Analytics 4 using Google’s Measurement Protocol.

May be sent:

  • event names (for example feature usage, install/update-related events)
  • interaction counts (for example number of links in an action)
  • anonymous client ID and session ID
  • technical diagnostics (for example browser user agent, error-related event data)
  • in some events, the page URL related to an action you performed (for example the page where you used in-page link tools)

Not sent to Google Analytics:

  • page body text
  • lists of extracted links you export or copy
  • bookmark contents
  • payment, account, email, or contact details (not collected in this Safari build)

4.2 Our website

If you open help or other pages on link-grabber.com (from the host app or extension), the website’s privacy practices apply. That site may use cookies or forms separate from the Safari extension.

4.3 Support email

If you email support@link-grabber.com, we receive what you send (for example your email address and message content) only to respond to you.

5. What we do NOT collect in this Safari build

We designed the Mac App Store Safari release without in-extension payments or accounts.

We do not collect through the extension or host app:

  • name, email, phone number, or postal address
  • billing or payment card details
  • passwords or account credentials for Link Grabber
  • social media profiles
  • advertising IDs for cross-app tracking

We do not:

  • sell personal data
  • run in-extension payment or subscription flows in this Safari build
  • inject unrelated ads or hijack browsing
  • send email or messages on your behalf

6. Mac App Store / App Privacy alignment

For transparency with Apple’s App Store privacy disclosures, this Safari product may report collection of:

  • Product interaction (analytics events)
  • User ID (anonymous analytics client ID, not linked to your real identity)
  • Diagnostics (for example user agent or error-related analytics)
  • Browsing history (only where a page URL is included in an analytics event tied to your action, as described above)

We declare that this data is used for analytics, is not linked to your identity for App Store purposes, and is not used for tracking as defined by Apple (no cross-app advertising tracking; we do not use App Tracking Transparency for this product).

7. Permissions (why they are needed)

The Safari extension requests access needed for link workflows:

Permission

Why

Access to websites (<all_urls>)

Run on pages you process to find and extract links

tabs

Multi-tab workflows, opening pages you request

bookmarks

Bookmark export/actions you choose

storage

Save settings and working data locally

scripting

Inject tools on pages you process

contextMenus

Optional page context menu actions

clipboardWrite

Copy links when you use copy actions

Safari also asks you to enable the extension and allow site access per site or for all websites — that is controlled in Safari Settings → Extensions, not by us remotely.

8. Safari-specific notes

  • No paid tier in-app in this Mac App Store Safari release (no payment data collected by the extension).
  • Chrome Reading List export is not available in Safari.
  • Some features differ from the Chrome build (for example certain tab-selection shortcuts may be unavailable on Safari).
  • Link Crawler and bulk actions run only after you start them and within limits you set.
  • On install/update, the extension may open a welcome/help page on link-grabber.com if you enable the extension.
  • We do not pass an uninstall tracking URL with your client ID in this Safari build (unlike some other browser builds).

9. Mac host app

The host app may:

  • show whether the Safari extension is enabled
  • open Safari Settings → Extensions so you can turn the extension on
  • open https://link-grabber.com/welcomepage (or similar help URLs) in your default browser when you choose Quick start / help

The host app does not send link extraction data to our servers and does not include separate analytics beyond what is described for the extension.

10. Data retention

  • On your Mac: settings and working data remain until you clear extension data or uninstall the app/extension.
  • Google Analytics: retention is governed by Google’s policies and our GA4 configuration.
  • Support emails: kept only as long as needed to handle your request and our legal obligations.

11. Your choices

  • Use only the features you need.
  • Control site access in Safari Settings → Extensions.
  • Uninstall the Mac app / disable the extension to stop local extension data use.
  • For privacy questions or requests related to support correspondence: support@link-grabber.com

We cannot delete Google Analytics records tied only to an anonymous client ID unless you provide enough information for us to identify related events; you may also use tools Google offers under its policies.

12. Security

We use reasonable measures to protect systems we control. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. Analytics traffic uses HTTPS.

13. International transfers

Support and analytics providers may process data in countries other than your own. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards or legal bases under applicable law.

14. Children

Link Grabber is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through this Safari product.

15. Changes

We may update this policy when the Safari app or extension changes. We will post the new date at the top of this page. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy for this Safari product.
